Hospices Find Referral Source Solutions With Audio Conference From Hospice Letter
MANASQUAN, N.J. -- Increasing hospice referrals is crucial for keeping hospices ahead of the competition. Experts from the hospice industry discussed approaches to use when it comes to referral sources during a recent audio conference, now available on CD-ROM.
“Tapping Into Your Hospice Referral Sources: Successful Strategies for Boosting Referrals and ALOS,” sponsored by hospice letter, a national newsletter discussing important issues for hospice executives and professionals.
Understanding the needs of hospice referral sources such as physicians, long-term care facilities and hospitals is a larger portion of making your hospice the go-to organization for referrals, according to the experts.
“As the market has grown with more and more hospices, we’ve seen it become very competitive,” said Celeste McGraw, director professional and community relations at Lighthouse Hospice Coastal Bend of Corpus Christi, Texas.
McGraw, along with Polly Rehnwall, national healthcare consultant with more than 100 hospice and palliative care providers as clients, and Tim Bowan, executive director of Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Fla. stressed the important of knowing referral sources and differentiating a hospice program from competitors’.
Today’s slowing economy and possible Medicare rate cuts may cause a great deal of budgetary problems for the hospice industry. Increasing referrals is one way to control financial pressure with the strategies presented in the audio conference.
The audio conference on CD-ROM features all three presentations, a question and answer session, speakers’ slides and biographies. For more information or to order the CD-ROM, visit www.healthresourcesonline.com/edu/referrals.htm.
